New website launch – Telford Culture Zone – cool technology

Saturday, February 13th, 2010

Telford Culture Zone We are often approached to build sophisticated websites. Yet when a top UK creative agency approached us to work with them in building a new website for Telford County Council we were very surprised by the level of smart technology needed for a big media-rich project.

Much of the website is completely bespoke, in fact it’s probably just the page management that is stock. Things like the events calendar, with auto-deletion of expired events, jquery dropline top nav with fade and fade out (and activated / deactivated buttons) – plus the colours of the dropline are controlled from with the CMS. Pretty much everything in the website can be modified from the admin panel. The creative agency is very cool on palette choice so these customisations proved invaluable.

The movie zone lists out all the videos, however rather than duplicating resources we opted to create a system where the video of a page can be used by way of a unique tag. Specifying a tag builds the page using the video file, reskins the entire them for the movie zone, creates a unique URL, and links itself up to its peers and parents (also in the movie zone). Sounds complicated? It is. But is very easy to use now it’s built!  We take pride in writing slick code that doesn’t lead to duplicating resources.

The design work was provided by the team from the creative agency – they have all the spotlight for that – it’s a great looking site!

The website has received a lot of praise from around the region, which is great to hear!

New website launch for Jumjo.it – authentic Indian spices

Friday, January 15th, 2010

Jumjo - authentic indian spicesWe are proud of every website we make. And the new Jumjo.it is no exception.

Jumjo came to us with a design, beautiful looking, very stylish and challenged us to build it. We love a challenge!

Indian spices are less well known in Italy, so Jumjo have created recipes suitable to the Italian palete and using common Italian ingredients.

Jumjo wanted to update their own site so they could put new recipes in and change photos so we planned in our sophisticated Content Management System (CMS) from the start. Since our CMS controls every part of the website, adding in new recipes takes the form of simply adding in new text and a photo. Creating the page and updating the index page is done automatically. The heat rating system is very easy to manage, simply by selecting a number from 1-5 the system puts up the corrrect number of hot chilis.

The slideshow system is fully managed from the CMS, making updating the pictures a breeze. There are some special tricks in there for layering of the post-it pictures over the top of the introduction text, which is itself over the top of a semi-transparent box, which is over the top of the slideshow.

Feedback from the Jumjo team has been incredible – they love it!

NEW London Plumbers website with regional targetting – Thames Drains

Friday, October 16th, 2009

Introduction

Thames Drains is an expanding rapid response plumbing, drainage, and central heating company covering the London area. To expand their advertising presence on to the Internet they approached us to build a website. They wanted a professional high-end looking website to match their sophisticated service:Thames Drains

a) a stylish and friendly looking website

b) search engine optimisation to target towns and villages

c) themed testimonials

d) a website that was expandable to new services and regions when required

We storyboarded and fleshed out a unique design which was bright, bold, yet slightly soft to give a friendly and caring atmosphere. The client needed to visually communicate the services so we integrated a system to run a fading-sidehsow that can be updated at anytime from an admin section to the website.

Web Building

Following completion of the designs we built the website on a heavy-duty CMS system. Our CMS platform is strong on SEO and is of prime importance to the client. We built the design into the CMS from ground-up, no templates were used – everything of ours is bespoke.

Regional targeting of high profile keywords was a defined requirement from the start, so we created a system in the CMS to create pages with town targetting. Flexibility was the key, so we made it a facility on all services now and any added later on.

Testimonials were addded, and focussed so that drainage testimonials only show up in the drainage pages, and drainage regional pages.

The Result

The client was very impressed with the result! Not only does it have a stylish and professional look but within a few weeks of launch the website has started to produce good regional results in the search engines.

New website for the unique Hopleys Camping

Saturday, September 5th, 2009

What a great idea to build a campsite where you can stay in Teepees, as well as the usual tents and caravans! Hungry? No problems there are firepits too.

For something truly unique try Hopleys Camping in Bewdley.

Building the new website for Hopleys we created a unique site with some smart background slide-show effects. We built it such in a way to make uploading new images a breeze. The Content Management System gives ultimate flexibility in maintaining the website and we also bolted in a gallery system with full image management.

The CSS was a challenge; we created CSS layers and overlayed them exactly right. The menus are all layered on top of the slideshow, and then various layers are applied to get the torn paper look.

The website has been very well received, we are delighted to say.

Now, where’s that Go-Ape trail?

It’s also an amazing place, so if you want that something unique you could try -> Hopleys Camping, in Bewdley.
