new SEO Campaign – for website hosting company

February 24th, 2010

Search Engine Optimisation is, and always been, our speciality. ‘SEO that works’ – has always been our motto.

Vidahost are a company that we’ve known for quite a few years and they provide our server hosting. Amongst their services they offer is one of the UK’s best Cpanel hosting platforms. They also run all the latest server hosting hardware and software, and really look after their customers.

They approached us to plan an SEO campaign to enhance their online presence. We looked for keywords having decent traffic and directly related to their business. After some SEO tweaks to the website we developed a hard-hitting link building campaign.

Already after several weeks they are seeing big jumps. They are already on to the top of page 2 and it will get even better shortly.

You can visit their website www.vidahost.com and speak to Seb or Dominic if you’re looking for affordable, quality, website hosting.

New website launch – Telford Culture Zone – cool technology

February 13th, 2010

Telford Culture Zone We are often approached to build sophisticated websites. Yet when a top UK creative agency approached us to work with them in building a new website for Telford County Council we were very surprised by the level of smart technology needed for a big media-rich project.

Much of the website is completely bespoke, in fact it’s probably just the page management that is stock. Things like the events calendar, with auto-deletion of expired events, jquery dropline top nav with fade and fade out (and activated / deactivated buttons) – plus the colours of the dropline are controlled from with the CMS. Pretty much everything in the website can be modified from the admin panel. The creative agency is very cool on palette choice so these customisations proved invaluable.

The movie zone lists out all the videos, however rather than duplicating resources we opted to create a system where the video of a page can be used by way of a unique tag. Specifying a tag builds the page using the video file, reskins the entire them for the movie zone, creates a unique URL, and links itself up to its peers and parents (also in the movie zone). Sounds complicated? It is. But is very easy to use now it’s built!  We take pride in writing slick code that doesn’t lead to duplicating resources.

The design work was provided by the team from the creative agency – they have all the spotlight for that – it’s a great looking site!

The website has received a lot of praise from around the region, which is great to hear!

New website launch for Jumjo.it – authentic Indian spices

January 15th, 2010

Jumjo - authentic indian spicesWe are proud of every website we make. And the new Jumjo.it is no exception.

Jumjo came to us with a design, beautiful looking, very stylish and challenged us to build it. We love a challenge!

Indian spices are less well known in Italy, so Jumjo have created recipes suitable to the Italian palete and using common Italian ingredients.

Jumjo wanted to update their own site so they could put new recipes in and change photos so we planned in our sophisticated Content Management System (CMS) from the start. Since our CMS controls every part of the website, adding in new recipes takes the form of simply adding in new text and a photo. Creating the page and updating the index page is done automatically. The heat rating system is very easy to manage, simply by selecting a number from 1-5 the system puts up the corrrect number of hot chilis.

The slideshow system is fully managed from the CMS, making updating the pictures a breeze. There are some special tricks in there for layering of the post-it pictures over the top of the introduction text, which is itself over the top of a semi-transparent box, which is over the top of the slideshow.

Feedback from the Jumjo team has been incredible – they love it!

SEO results to dream of – now a reality

November 23rd, 2009

Are you tired of searching for SEO that works?

Look no more. Read about our recent SEO results in a very competitive area …

For a very competitive two-word keyword such as ‘Team Building’ results are always going to be a big challenge. This was the challenge set to us by one of our clients – KDM Events Ltd, the leading events provider in the UK.

They were currently sat at page 14 in Google for ‘Team Building’. With the aim of achieving high rankings we planned a highly targetted off-site SEO campaign for them. For such a competitive keyword the quality of the campaign was going to be all important. We carefully researched a lot of UK resources and examined them for quality. Only the best websites were targetted. Factors such as, age of domain, UK based, and information on-site were examined. Refining the link resources down to the very best quality and building links from these websites formed the link campaign.

They have now reached the top of page 2 for ‘Team Building’ and still climbing! On such as competitive keywords this is an amazing result. And they are still going upwards!  All this has beeen achieved in just 6 weeks since we started the SEO.

The difference between these results and normal SEO is the planning and the quality.

Quality is everything in SEO. You can work a lot but achieve very little, or you can plan things, do it right and achieve success.

NEW London Plumbers website with regional targetting – Thames Drains

October 16th, 2009

Introduction

Thames Drains is an expanding rapid response plumbing, drainage, and central heating company covering the London area. To expand their advertising presence on to the Internet they approached us to build a website. They wanted a professional high-end looking website to match their sophisticated service:Thames Drains

a) a stylish and friendly looking website

b) search engine optimisation to target towns and villages

c) themed testimonials

d) a website that was expandable to new services and regions when required

We storyboarded and fleshed out a unique design which was bright, bold, yet slightly soft to give a friendly and caring atmosphere. The client needed to visually communicate the services so we integrated a system to run a fading-sidehsow that can be updated at anytime from an admin section to the website.

Web Building

Following completion of the designs we built the website on a heavy-duty CMS system. Our CMS platform is strong on SEO and is of prime importance to the client. We built the design into the CMS from ground-up, no templates were used – everything of ours is bespoke.

Regional targeting of high profile keywords was a defined requirement from the start, so we created a system in the CMS to create pages with town targetting. Flexibility was the key, so we made it a facility on all services now and any added later on.

Testimonials were addded, and focussed so that drainage testimonials only show up in the drainage pages, and drainage regional pages.

The Result

The client was very impressed with the result! Not only does it have a stylish and professional look but within a few weeks of launch the website has started to produce good regional results in the search engines.

Focus on: Business Coach – Chris Kaday – make a difference to your business

September 21st, 2009

For this week’s news we have a Q & A from Chris Kaday. Chris is a top business coach and mentor who has helped many companies acheive success. We have known Chris for quite some time now. His insight and perception sometimes has the uncanny knack of finding hidden stumbling blocks, and from there solutions can be found. Chris is more than just a classical ‘goal setting’ coach – his input really makes you see your business and where it can go.

He has helped us on many occasions, and in this economic climate I don’t think we would be in as strong a position if it were not for his experience and advice.

1. What does a Business Coach do?

Chris Kaday business coachA business coach, in common with a sports or any other kind of coach, is there to help the business and the management perform better and produce an improved result. A coach can give the owner a valuable reference point, making business life a little less lonely, as well as adding value in any business situation or requirement thus benefitting everyone in the company. However, it is essential that you choose a coach who has already been successful and made money in business. Let’s face it you wouldn’t go into the jungle without an experienced guide who knows the territory and has been there before.  A business coach should know the commercial territory inside out and be able to help you reach your business goals

2. What sort of businesses can you help?

If I say ‘any’ this might sound a bit glib but it is perfectly true.  Every business has the same needs- to gain and retain customers, deliver effectively, motivate and manage staff and so on.  In my experience there are two fundamentals you have to get right – the business model and the management mind.  With a business success track record and time spent in various motivational and holistic practices, such as life coaching and NLP, I focus on them both.

3. In what ways can you make a difference to a business?

The first essential is to have a documented business action plan setting out some clear targets and how they will be achieved. I say action plan as this is a document detailing out who is going to do what by when, not something to be put in a filing cabinet. In my experience, the vast majority of companies do not have this essential document, or if they do it is not up to date. This is like being on a ship with no compass and no charts – not too pleasant if a storm come up.

The next stage is to hold regular review or check in sessions to track performance against target, adjust the plan and add value where necessary. This is the difference between adopting a controlled approach to business growth rather than trying to wing it.

Apart from this I am doing whatever is necessary.  At the minimum I could just be available as a useful reference point on issues as they arrive during the month.  I could also be involved in staff recruitment, training and appraisal, critiquing marketing copy, helping create or revise a web site, coaching sales or telephone sales staff, improving the financial dashboard, installing good databases, helping in negotiations and a lot more.  In short, adding value in any business interaction or issue as they arise as I have done them all over the years and learnt from experience.

4. What is your background?

I started out working at a chartered accountants and was also an accountant for a small joinery company, so I can read a balance sheet and know how to run a business from the figures.  However, most of my career has been in sales, which really is essential for any entrepreneur who is going to build a successful business. I started cold calling businesses by phone and door knocking and ended up running a sales team of 500 with 40 branches at 29.  As MD of Commodore I also learnt marketing and distribution which is another essential business skill. However, starting my own business and growing it to multi-million pound turnover has been the most valuable and enjoyable part of my business life.  There really is no substitute for running your own successful business if you are going to coach others to do the same.

5. Who have you helped previously?

I tend not to crow about my clients but they range from a pharmaceutical, training company, an IT support consultancy, a software company, ecommerce web based sales company, a London estate agency, a large horticultural nursery, a PR company and even a West End theatrical producer. So as I said the type of business really does not matter. I am retained as a business mentor or coach or sometimes I have a non executive position or even take an investment. Also as this is not my main income source I take on only 10 clients at any one time.  This might sound a bit excusive but I do also help a large number of businesses especially small start ups for free.

6. What sort of successes has your input made?

Well all the companies I am working with are successful and growing, despite the recession. A company I started engaging with last year with a fairly flat revenue year on year has grown 25% in 7 months with my help.  More recently a programme I implemented with the managing director of a business produced more sales in the first 8 days of this month than the whole of the last. I also have high impact on staff and can get a sales person producing on target results in a few hours of observation and coaching. Of course I work for commercial rates but what really excites me is getting a result.

7. If I’m interested to find out if you can help my business how do I get in touch?

Have a look at my web site on www.chriskaday.co.uk and if you like what you see send me an email on chris@chriskaday.co.uk.  You can even ring me direct on 07717 411382.  You will find me interested and attentive with some good challenging questions and input even if we do not end up working together.

New website for the unique Hopleys Camping

September 5th, 2009

What a great idea to build a campsite where you can stay in Teepees, as well as the usual tents and caravans! Hungry? No problems there are firepits too.

For something truly unique try Hopleys Camping in Bewdley.

Building the new website for Hopleys we created a unique site with some smart background slide-show effects. We built it such in a way to make uploading new images a breeze. The Content Management System gives ultimate flexibility in maintaining the website and we also bolted in a gallery system with full image management.

The CSS was a challenge; we created CSS layers and overlayed them exactly right. The menus are all layered on top of the slideshow, and then various layers are applied to get the torn paper look.

The website has been very well received, we are delighted to say.

Now, where’s that Go-Ape trail?

It’s also an amazing place, so if you want that something unique you could try -> Hopleys Camping, in Bewdley.
